Is #Bitcoin a right wing/conservative technology or is it apolitical?

Was debating this with a friend today who is very into politics and is getting into Bitcoin.

He argued that Bitcoin is inherently a right wing technology because it protects property rights and promotes free exchange.

This is hard to argue against but I believe it is completely apolitical and attractive to all ideologies but it reflects natural laws which can be seen today as “right wing”.

What do you think?

I think, not worthy of an “argument”. Bitcoin is simply an everybody thing, get in or get left behind… 😊👊

The best representation of Capital that I have ever seen was the Bookkeeper on American Gods. Season 2, Episode 4. Bitcoin is a digital representation of Capital, one of the best that humanity has yet invented. It doesn't take sides.

Freedom does not come from money, it is something that we choose to express with or without money.

A true representation of Capital levels the playing field. It is up to us what we do with money, our time and our other resources.

Very well put, capital can be used for political purposes but is inherently apolitical. Like a tool, it is indifferent to the application.

I would consider Bitcoin as a mirror in this conversation. A person living in a world of total politics will see in it signs of this or that doctrine. Another will say that Bitcoin doesn't care who uses it.

I totally agree, Bitcoin is a mirror!

One can look at Bitcoin and see either side.

Bitcoin is a reflection of yourself.

Well it’s not authoritarian, that’s what matters

That is the only political spectrum that matters to me.

Freedom — Control

wrong question

But I was trying to figure out what the right question is and can't pinpoint it. But having the bailout headline in the first transaction and publishing the white paper on the same day Martin Luther posted the 95 theses....

Bitcoin is very libertarian.

Is the technology libertarian or is it simply attractive to libertarians

Both actually. Not trusting banks, self custody and running a node are libertarian concepts. Although someone has written 'the progressive case for Bitcoin' which is pretty cool.

The Bitcoin protocol is neutral, but interpretations of it are often not.

Most subjective interpretations of its utility are made through a lens molded and polished from within a flawed system.
