#asknostr can anyone recommend small waterproof hard cases for keeping sensitive gear safe, organized, and dry inside my backpack?

Looks like lots of options all overpriced.

Also there looks like a wide variation in space efficiency.

Looking for something hard. Don't want sensitive electronics like my IR camera crushed or my glow sticks getting lit by accident as examples.

Pelican > Seahorse > Condition 1 > Apache/ Harbor Freight

How many orders of magnitude is the equipment vs the cases you are looking at buying.

Some times the price of the gear justifies it, like my thermal camera.

Others the case might cost what the contents cost but the value might not be dollars when you open it.

Examples of that are fire starting items and first aid.

Looked at these or the Apache 550. Don't know if they'll weather the abuse.

I do have an Apache 2800 full of RF test gear that has stayed safe over many miles of dirt roads bouncing around the bed of my truck.

The Apache absolutely does I have a 3600(?) for my yeasu ft710. Not one issue totally water and dust proof.

The 550 is a clear plastic, doesn't look at all like the bigger units which just look trustworthy, and so far have been for me.

Looks like you may get dudt and water help, but not any kind of bounce protection. That would be a pass for me with radio gear.

I'm planning on stuff that rattling around won't matter. I could foam it for radio or similar shock sensitive gear.

Watertight lunch boxes?

Now I know that waterproof stainless bento boxes are a thing. Not what I was looking for but it solves a different problem I had.

I got a plano tackle box for $5 that works pretty well

I have 1 of these and I'd love more of them but they are sold out everywhere.

Plano costs less than harbor freight, of course the plano is sold out everywhere

Oh wow, you're right. Looks like they just did a redesign too

Found the plano at Walmart for $6, 4 on the way.
