Guns are, in the hands of people, primarily a means of defence. Especially important when a government tries to seize a little too much power over the population, when someone invades your home, or when the failed state you live in goes out of its way to avoid protecting kids.
I agree that fetishizing guns isn't good, but being overly protective of those rights is understandable.

Guns are a tool. They can kill, for sure. They are very handy to have for anyone who is in a situation that they may be in where they may be killed or worse. You may think we are ridiculous, but the only reason the US hasn't gone full retard is because the US citizens have more guns than the rest of the world.
And, if anyone tries to take them away, they will, at least in certain areas, get shot.
