I just spent 4 days working off grid in a van in south portugal and it sucked 🤣

VW camper + leisure battery + Starlink

I was delighted to be reunited with shade, a roof and plumbing this morning.

The main thing I take away from awkward experiences is that when I’m off grid I actually hate being online and I find it really hard to work!

Glad that you survived 🫡

Welcome back to proper hygiene! What didn't you work on?

Because you just want to breathe, meditate and observe nature—And that's okay.

When I see #vanlife laptop workers, it looks so depressing.

Why did it suck if I may ask? Been living in my van for over a year now and I find it pretty chill tbh, curious why your experience sucked 😅

I could not sleep well. Everywhere we found that we thought would be quiet was super loud.

How do you deal with that?

I can imagine at the beginning you hear everything if you're used to sleeping in a house 🤣 but in general, apart from the occasional car passing by there's barely any real noise tbh... and if needed you can use some earplugs..

You just got unlucky with your spots I think... close to forests are in general the better spots in my experience. It's not for everyone ofcourse but it's not so bad neither, got a roof over my head, food in my belly and warm clothes, what else do we rly need 😁

GM Joe! 🌅☕️🍳🥓 Working off-grid requires enough equipment to generate enough kWh to service your equipment and keep the battery charged at all times, as well as walking with the right shoes. Without these, you might reach your destination, but blisters will definitely appear.

It takes a lot of "compromiso" to live in a van... I admire those who can do it, but... Not for me... I am just too tall :)

Bro same!
