The lei was already pegged to the euro anyway. This final step isn't that big of a change.
Bulgaria officially adopts the euro at midnight, becoming the 21st member of the eurozone as the country enters 2026.

Technically true but the reserves that were keeping our peg were at least controlled by the Bulgarian national bank. However, now the crazy euro witch aka Lagarde has a say.
