The lei was already pegged to the euro anyway. This final step isn't that big of a change.
Technically true but the reserves that were keeping our peg were at least controlled by the Bulgarian national bank. However, now the crazy euro witch aka Lagarde has a say.
Interesting, wouldn't cross my mind to lash myself to a sinking ship, but doing so will presumably make it easier for someone to say "we did everything we could", or "there was no way to know", so I suppose that's something.
