Just curious, do you think a nation should be able to protect its culture, and if so, how would you recommend? I'm reminded of the paradox of tolerance and wonder where lines in the sand are.

Given how flexible and configurable Linux is I blindly assume that that's doable (and I once got the impression that it's been done), but I never figured it out, and I don't assume that it's plausible with more mainstream OSes. That said, given that Tailscale kind of gives their service away, and yet doesn't facilitate what you're talking about, i'm left wondering if there are practical, behind the scenes reasons for the challenge of doing so. In a few different scenarios, for a few different reasons, I've tried to set up networking so that different data goes through different connections, and I've never had any luck with it.

I spent some time trying to do about that. In the end, paying for Mullvad via Tailscale came to look like the only feasible option. But I suppose that if your personal exit node was behind a router that routed traffic through a VPN...

I worked a job for some years that had me regularly backpacking, typically with itineraries that weren't for the faint of heart, and talking to countless other backpackers, so with that said, be careful with the "more is better". It can be a slippery slope that I've seen wreak havoc in more than a few trips. But overall, good work and good luck!

Interesting, wouldn't cross my mind to lash myself to a sinking ship, but doing so will presumably make it easier for someone to say "we did everything we could", or "there was no way to know", so I suppose that's something.

Leaves me curious if there was coordination, or if in a Chomsky-quote sort of way, Bari's in that position because she doesn't need to be told, because she's the type to sincerely believe that the story needed to be spiked.

It's regularly said that we're still early. To the degree that that's true, doesn't that imply that an attacker likely wouldn't see Bitcoin as an off-ramp? And even if the first attacker does, what if the 2nd, 3rd, ... Nth attacker doesn't?

What I'd give to have the time and excuse to spend my days doing little more than going on ADHD fuled explorations of every hobby, topic, and rabbit hole under the sun 😂

I've spent thousands of hours rock climbing, many more running, hiking, and backpacking, and many of those hours were way off trail. No one doubts the challenging yet straightforward big numbers I can claim, yet when I assert that the confluence of them perhaps let's me go places that most people seemingly can't imagine, they look at me like I'm the one with no idea what they're talking about.

A number of teams assert that they have small yet working quantum computers and all they need to do is scale them. Would you argue that they in fact don't have working quantum computers, that they won't be able to scale up, or that, even if they do scale up, they still won't be able to do what they claim regarding Bitcoin in particular?

I recently heard something elucidating that this reminds me of. It was something to the effect of that autists are often confused by normies because while autists typically speaks about facts and reality to the best of their abilities, normies are typically virtue signaling.

Hmmm, in retrospect, I think I used to be dead, at least on the inside, but then I got better. Maybe I'm not worried about things dying, so much as I'm worried about things staying dead.

Also worth noting, roughly speaking, I spent years athletically outdoing most of my friends while eating 2 low carb meals per day, so it's not like I hadn't adjusted or adapted.

They do pay dividends!

F, I don't have enough kids for such jokes 😂

At least they have an excuse, unlike all the human analog parrots 😂
