There is a really neat service on nostr called #zapplepay so users can set a zap amount to their reactions. I feel like it’s the best of both worlds, but the cool thing about nostr is that currently, each user has a choice to set onlyzaps or enable reactions. The more clients and relays we tinker with, the more control each individual has of their feed and engagement methodology.

Yeah. I’m kind of in the same boat as you that if the goal is to grow nostr, it has to be usable to the new users who are probably used to “likes”. Obviously, being nostr only, I personally prefer zaps; however, everyone is gonna be different and it’s good to have the option especially since lightning isn’t easy to set up for the first time.
