I think I see why this happens. Amethyst interprets kind 1 notes with Markdown, right? But NIP-01 specifies only plaintext for kind 1 notes.

nah, its the kind of client-side rendering choice that is cool to have and pretty impossible to standardize (what means "big"? On what kind of screen? For a chat-like client, a web-page-like client or a forum-like client?)
