I still think free-will/determinism will be the question of this century.

From a purely physical/chemical perspective, I don’t see where the “free will” comes into play. It certainly doesn’t seem to when you methylate or hydrolyze a bond. But there’s double slit experiments etc…I have no idea. When I first started college I read Sam Harris’s book and thought I had it all figured out. But….I have no idea. It doesn’t seem like any physical or chemical force has “choice” but I’m also a fallible human who doesn’t know shit.

We have about the same level of confidence on which way that question will be answered, it sounds like. 🤣

I hear ya. This 6 min video is very thought provoking and interesting.

I do believe that this question has been answered, for the majority of individuals.

On a personal level, I agree.

But on the level of proofs?

Level of proofs?

How can we prove whether we have free will or are deterministic?

You want me to hit you with it? 🤣🤣🤣

A question coming from kindness, sincerity and a (silly) forewarning 🙂

Also, not all statements need/can be absolutely proved through logical statements. Even process of creating proofs for novel ideas requires intuition (stepping outside the existing system for higher level patterns)

I don't have that answer. And I'm not respsonsible for engaging in this discussion. "They" made me do it :)
