Don't bug people if you don't want to get marked as Spam. They are free to mark your posts and reduce your reach to their followers.

They can also delete the report if it was made by mistake. In Nostr you are free to say whatever you want, and people are free to rove you from their feed.

There is no universal ban.

I get that but I'm thinking of scenarios where you just don't fancy seeing certain content. It's not the person bugging you. Like specific content accounts. Eg an account specifically posts about eg Lego, and another user has no interest in Lego. They're not harassing or inappropriate or spam, this user might want to just mute this account. Maybe I'm misundersating (very likely)....?

You mean don’t comment on people’s public social media posts? It’s amazing that you’re defending abuse of the spam reporting function to censor ppl, absolutely unreal.

It’s also extremely dishonest that you’re framing it as “reduce my reach to their followers” when I’m completely censored on the Amethyst app in general.

Whats the problem? You were blocked from some relays?

I was falsely reported by 8 ppl for “spam” for disagreeing with their takes on bitcoin, so now I’m completely censored on the Amethyst app.

I am replying to you in Amethyst. So, you are not censored at all.

I was told by an Amethyst user yesterday that my posts are hidden by default and marked as “inappropriate content”. Is that not correct?

It's probably correct. They are following somebody that marked you as spam. If they don't agree, they can stop following that person to see your content. Up to them.

So let’s say I’m critical of a huge account with many followers and they falsely report me as spam, making my posts hidden to a huge group of ppl and effectively censoring me. That seems like a sane and reasonable system to you?

In that case, people either agree with the account and you should be hidden or they don't agree with the account and can blast on the account to change it. Either way, like a free market, people will sort itself out.

I can already see Vitor here wondering why people that actually care about free speech start trashing Amethyst in a few week's time.

I'd prefer not to let the people I follow determine what I can and can't see, thanks.
