Jade is pretty good. Light weight and does the job. I don’t know what’s the fascination with all these fantastical hardware wallets. A simple jade does the job. Any scenario that a jade can’t handle is a scenario you will most likely never see

competition is always good for the customer
so i wouldnt complain to much about all the options
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I don’t mean we don’t need the options. I love my gadget like the next man, and want to have ever HW wallet that’s exists, but it’s like a smart phone. We want the latest and greatest, but I still have an iPhone X that works perfectly fine (besides sub-par photos lol 😂).
Ppl often ask me “which wallet is the best to get?” And I’m like “just get the jade. For the price point, it does the job”. Obviously things like the coldcard is by far superior, but it’s like an iPhone max pro…80% of its unique capabilities you won’t ever need.
But yes, I still love the latest and greatest. I just acknowledge that I don’t need it to simply sign a transaction lol 😂
yeah you are right, jade does the job. at least its air gaped. most people use devices which are not air gaped... i got no problem with the jade, i also got one
air-gapped or not doesn't matter
trusted operating system does.
I got no problem with the jade, the problem is most people use corporate-government (fascist) operating systems.
You can have the best air-gapped wallet out there, if you are using windows or mac, your privacy is busted by the gov simply by whats on your screen.
You can have no security without privacy.
I agree with the sentiment here.
HW is better than no HW.
I don't like all the shady wallets on sale at Amazon. Shit you've never heard of. Brand names you never heard of. And of course they all support 10,000 coins. I don't like it.
yeah the bitcoin only part i didnt mention
but yes most of us here on nostr use bitcoin only hardware + air gaped
The other ones are all about added functionality, multi-wallet storage, multiple signing methods (memory card, NFC, USB, QR, etc) distress PINs, and other premium-but-unnecessary features. I prefer simple. No connectivity, QR signing, stateless. After all, I'm using these hardware devices in conjunction with software wallets, so that's where all the extra features should be, IMO.
Yeah, it has the other smart features, but considering it spends 99.78% of the time turned off in a draw or safe somewhere, I don’t think most of it is necessary.
A simple stateless signing device is enough tbh for most ppl
That's why I like the SeedSigner so much. It's not pretentious. No bells and whistles. It just signs transactions, and transfers them back to your software wallet with a QR code.
