Why did I spend $100 on a freaking Nip05 address? Sometimes I wonder how my brain rationalizes things.

Gambling addiction?

Wow that's a lot. Especially given how many organizations offer them for free, or for a few sats.

Yes but I got the legit address 😁

True. uno@nostr.com is legit AF. I use a NIP-05 through my personal relay. It was 21 sats, and you can keep your outbox relays configured so that anyone who uses it has accurate access to your notes just from the NIP-05. A lot of them don't come with that relay customization, which makes them less useful, even if the name is better.

And it doesn’t even show on your profile 😂😂😂🫂

What! What does it show?

Nothing, no NIP05 at all

It shows for me, what client you in?

Now I’m looking at Damus bcs I forgot my adroid phone home :(

Damus

How bout now?

It’s case sensitive i believe

Ahh, ok. Can you guys see it now?

Yes, now it show 😂

Ok, thank you Fren 🫡

🫂🫡💪🏻

I got Fishcake from them too, $5 per year. 😂😂😂

Yeah, I didn't see the cheaper options with longer characters, maybe should have done UnoDog or something 🤣

Every time I see someone selling shit for sats denominated as $ , I always wonder if it’s the better way 🤔🤔🤔

Maybe, it's sometimes easier, think it was about 105k sats at time.

I don't think fiat amount should be shown when the transaction is with sats. I think it's an unnecessary crutch. Leave the fiat conversion for your exchange or wallet.

But my observations suggest that every time there is a bull run, sales stop. So general opinion is different from the ideological theory. I wish 1=1 was a reality, but it’s just not 🤦🏼‍♂️

True, if you selling a product and say the product cost like $50, say at one point $50 is equivalent to 100k sats, but then Bitcoin goes up a lot like we've seen and all of a sudden people are paying 100k sats still, but now it's equal to around $100 for the same product.

You'd think it would be really easy to just inciude a conversion script that dynamically adjusted the sat price based on the current fiat value in the e-commerce platform. That way, merchants wouldn't have to be concerned with the fluctuating conversion rate. It could just be automatically managed in the background.

It is already possible and doable, it still prevents people from spending. It will be easier to just charge in fiat and forget about it. Sad but probably true 🫡

Yeah, a mechanism that uses fiat prices, and dynamically converts to sats at checkout.

We’ve set our pricing based on $100K conversion, and that is still bad since people psychologically just can’t process that 🫡

Yeah, it gets confusing, especially for new people to Bitcoin.

We could set up a dynamic pricing situation where the amount of data changes based on the current price, but that gets really confusing.

Could you do the average of a weekly/biweekly range? Say the lows and highs of the week and then average them out by how many data points you want to take?

You could, again this confuses some people a lot.

I would say to do it on the backend so it doesn’t confuse the customer. I don’t know what you’re selling, but they have different long-term moving averages for 90 or 200-day.

True, I'm not selling anything, just brainstorming.🤣

BTCPayServer has it all with the configurable buffer. It is easy to do, no need to even think about it

I can, yours doesn’t show

Made it lowercase like his, hmm 🤔

I suggested that to you the other day when you were having trouble with zaps. Some clients don't like the capitalization in the addresses, and only want lowercase for that.

I also see it.

Perfect nip 😆

What? It should show.

It shows for me. I see your NIP-05 in Amethyst as well as your LN address for zaps.

a long time ago I once spent 5 BTC on stickers

Yikes 😬
