I feel a bit bad about the v4v musician scene. There aren’t enough people to zap them yet. There are clearly enough people generally speaking but we can’t expect everyone to have the same taste in music.

99% of people aren’t going to pay for what they can get for free

It might still work at scale. You only need a small group of passionate supporters. We just need 10x scale

I feel this sometimes, too. From a user growth POV, it’s a challenge.

But at least the musicians and artists who are here, getting whatever zaps they get, will hopefully hodl and someday reflect on this period as an unexpectedly lucrative or life-changing.

I don't even know what you are talking about. I have never even met any musicians on Nostr.

I think their music videos would get lost on Nostr. The only place I usually search for music is YouTube.

I saw Derek was posting stuff about musicians but I'm not following what he talking about.

It’s got a ways to go for sure. What they’re doing tonight for example is a good faith effort, but totally lacking in execution. Live streamed music always sounds a bit crappy online, no matter how good the bands are, and most people aren’t going to tune in for hours of concerts like that unless they already know who the bands are. The V4V musicians who are going to be most successful on nostr platforms are those who put in the time to be active on the networks when they’re not performing. They have to build/nurture a fan base. I think that’s why people like Ainsley tend to get more attention and probably more zaps when these events happen.

They also need to make the online experience an actual event for people to attend. Have a host/emcee, announce the bands, talk to them backstage when they’re switching the stage for the next act, engage with the online audience in the chat, etc.

I couldn't agree more than with this comment. That's why Twitch streamers do so well. They interact with the audience, audience gets shoutouts, audience tips and get their name on the screen etc

Ya current scene is lacking in this regard but hopefully this is only the beginning and we learn and adapt fast
