A short nostr.build update.
Although you haven’t seen many new features in the last few months, I assure you we are working like crazy to take nostr.build to the next level.
✅ - The first step was to get infrastructure up to par so we could scale. This has been complete for over a month with dual load balancing servers putting content on the s3.
✅ - Next step was to optimize media so data-out wasn’t so expensive. This is also complete now using imgpeoxy on our production servers. nostr:npub137c5pd8gmhhe0njtsgwjgunc5xjr2vmzvglkgqs5sjeh972gqqxqjak37w‘s optimization has reduced data-out by 8x, we are not having data-out overages for a long time…
✅ - another critical step is making nostr.build FOSS. We plan to announce and train on our infrastructure and FOSS code at nostrasia Tokyo, nostr:npub137c5pd8gmhhe0njtsgwjgunc5xjr2vmzvglkgqs5sjeh972gqqxqjak37w will have a session on it. Almost done here.
- Account integration is another key feature we are working on, but need to rebuild the APIs first marking them safe, real APIs. It’s coming but not there yet..
- Something that would be invaluable to nostr is tagging all content so it is searchable and having the ability to showcase top downloads. We have already created the DB for each media uploaded, but the AI tagging content will take some time, money and dev work. But it’s coming.
- We will also add a meme maker for the web and possibly in-client.
- We also plan to add basic image editing features for accounts.
None of these really awesome and fun features can be added until we finalize updating and optimizing the code. The best news of all is nostr:npub137c5pd8gmhhe0njtsgwjgunc5xjr2vmzvglkgqs5sjeh972gqqxqjak37w has become and incredible partner and is easily one of the top devs in our community. He is the one who has been basically re-writing almost everything 5000+ lines plus in the last month!!
Be patient all, big things coming for nostr.build. Think about it, by detaching the ‘media’ from ‘social media’ we will have even more features and flexibility than Twitter and Facebook. You will be able to own and manage your own media like never before.
