My humble opinion on #AI becoming sentient is that it is just baloney
simply because an AI works by predicting the next word, and they are getting really good at it, but they are essentially data crunching machines.
An AI in no way “understand” what comes next,
and even if they did, that still doesn’t mean they are conscious, sentient.
It is structurally impossible,

As a fun experiment I also asked an AI
and then realized they actually respond
while humans usually don't
and that made me sad
but then you answered and that gave me hope!

First google replaced knowledge and memory.
Now AI is replacing idea generation and creativity.
What is left for humans?
Do we exist only to consume?
The question isn't whether AI is sentient, but how different are we biologically.
That said, there are reasons why AGI isn't here yet or near, but don't forget to ask yourself why you are not also a data crunching machine?
