I am just in an abstract mood. Which way looks better? Horizontal or vertical?

Personally, I’m vibing the horizontal one at this moment.

I meant vertical.

Thanks for the input! I'm curious, what about the vertical is vibing with you? If you can put it in words πŸ˜… sometimes I know feelings are hard to explain.

Sure ~ it feels more movement, motion, naturally upward yet down ~ the horizontal feels saturation-esque ~

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on my painting.😊 it is refreshing hearing your perspective

I enjoy seeing your sketches as well ~ it’s a fun view. You sketch well.

Thank you!! 😊 it does make me happy to hear that you like my sketches as well πŸ˜„

Horizontal. looks like some kind of city scape

Yea I was thinking it kind of looks like mountains or something. Thanks for the input

I was thinking it looks like mountains and sunlight πŸ’œ

Thanks for your input! I can totally see that. πŸ’œ I love abstract paintings because I feel like everyone has a unique view of it. 😊

The horizontal has implied landscape vibes, if that helps.

It does! Thank you for your perspective 😊 I think abstract is so fun for that reason. Now I wonder how it would look upsidedown.

As a landscape painter I can tell you; how high the horizon (or implied horizon) is in the composition will establish the natural viewing distance.

The closer the horizon is to the top of the painting the further back you’ll want to view it regardless of scale.

When even a large painting’s horizon is low in the composition it feels natural to get very close to the painting.

In abstraction you can control this effect and use it to draw people in to see fine detail or push the viewer back to see a wider perspective.

Hmm that is interesting. I never really thought about that. How the horizon line effects how people view the painting. I learned something new today! Thank you πŸ˜ƒ

I think the vertical orientation is shaped well, but lacks the feeling of depth of the horizontal.

Thank you for your input! That is interesting. I can see what you mean πŸ˜„

Vertical looks mesmerising, like a love dance of day and night happening in one body (yeah, I see a shape of a silhouette in there too πŸ™ƒ)

Ooo interesting take! I think I see what you mean. I would not have caught that πŸ˜„
