Interoperability is an interesting animal.

In theory, all nostr apps can work with all other apps. The spec is there, the data is on the relays, so everything is there.

But, lets say a nostr social media app decides to use nutsack, so their new users directly can receive sats.

Their nuts/ecash is on nostr.

But what if they are not aware of this, and they navigate to a new client, that does not do this?

Magically their sats got disappeared.

I guess, this could be aided by having "support" in such apps, which at the end is a public chat or something.

Then they have their usual way of asking, but a nostr way of handling.

Probably stupid. Sorry, having my 3rd ☕.

This is why I always thought micro apps would win. It is impossible to support everything in every app. So, users will need to get used to the idea of separating concerns.

Chat is another example. I strongly believe that not all apps need to support DMs. Users can use Chat apps for that. Other apps should just focus on their thing.

But that is why nwc is a good concept. You have the sepatation, but still you can use in-app the wallet of their choice.

What if a super app is just an app clever enough to redirect you to the subapp/microapp you need?

Or dumb enough to do nothing

I see Nostr as an experiment in what happen when you empower users with their own cryptography.

Right now NIPs function as a free market of ideas, over time the most effective ones will become increasingly interoperable, and less popular will remains niche.

I'd say everything will never be completely interoperable, as some client will push for more decentralisation, other for speed, etc. You as a Nostrich will have the freedom to choose how you want to explore the Nostrverse

You're on to a wider problem that nostr doesn't have an effective backbone for interop. Kinds are far too loose (Kind1 is so permissive as to permit almost anything) and that means the interop backbone that nostr does have is basically all cartilage.

I think the solution is to move to a much more rigid system, replace kinds entirely. Actual bone. There are good decentralised systems out there, but it's hard to graft one on at this stage.

The only other solution is to just embrace the mystery, to see yourself as a detective in an Agatha Christie novel all the time. Which isn't a bad solution, it can be fun, but I'm not sure if everyone really wants to play mystery detective all the time.
