Am I a real Bitcoiner?

Beef is OK, but not my favourite meat and I don't care how the cow was fed.

And I don't know what creatine is 😂

No True Bitcoiner (NTB) refers to a logical fallacy that occurs when a debater makes a generalization of a group that requires observational evidence to support it. When confronted with evidence that instead clearly falsifies their claim, the debater fallaciously switches their claim from requiring evidence to being a definitional statement. For example, it's common for one to argue that "all bitcoiners prefer beef", but when provided a clearly falsifying counter-example, to simply discard the counter-example as "not true bitcoiners by definition".

I feel like “true Bitcoiners” who use the intellectual rigor you are suggesting - like to fail purity tests intentionally to assess what they can get away with - seeing how free they actually are. They do it in the most public way possible so they can rely on the test.

Perhaps there is a True Bitcoiners Paradox that makes the whole construct work after obliterating the concept of a “True Bitcoiner”

It always amuses me that to be a bitcoiner you must be a low threshold thinker, yet one of the top accusations against us is that we are all the same.

Threshold model if you aren't familiar.

Bitcoiners are non-fungible. Failing purity tests is a great way to ensure and demonstrate this property.

I think to the outside world that may look like a game of one upping where the goal is to be the craziest.

You’re probably right. Nobody said this was gonna look good to the outside world.

In truth - the Bitcoiners that fit themselves to a definition will be cannon fodder for those who don’t because they will be easily modeled.

Failing purity tests can be fatal if you do it wrong (eg dump your savings into ETH just to be a nonconformist). There’s likely a threshold one uses to make sure they don’t get rekt and constant self-vigilance so you don’t believe the lie and make being a contrarian’s contrarian an identity - lest you become another version of a conformist.

ETH has a real world cost.

Look at me nonconformity is best done with low cost crazy.

No flat earther is giving up their GPS. As far as I can tell chemtrail people are literally just yelling at clouds as their life changes based on secret knowledge.

This got me thinking.

Dennet (I think, possibly wrong attribution) talked about belief in belief. Being Dennet he was talking about religious people who no longer believe in their god but believe that they would benefit if they held that belief. Think a Christian arguing for the morality tales of the bible and community of the church being valuable even if God is not real. So they carry on doing the actions and doing their best to fool themselves back into the original belief.

I was noting that we could use skin in the game as proxy information for odds of belief in belief. It would be a u shaped signal curve though. Average chemtrail believer only sometimes yells at clouds, low cost. Many bitcoiners have sold everything from fiat land to buy in, high cost so unlikely to be a belief in belief. The U shape comes from influencers in the space, they have a direct financial incentive for believing accurate or not, where a hodler who has a financial incentive to accuracy of belief.

Would that make an influencer belief in belief in belief if they are away of the incentives?

So look at other fringe beliefs that many bitcoiners hold. Not much skin in the game required compared to hodling.

Skin in the game is proof of work but also makes susceptible to sunk cost fallacy I think.

Belief in belief ppl are never gonna make it. They want the benefits of spirituality without the risk - pure fiat.

You should definitely check out creatine, the most researched supplement there is and basically all upside except in edge cases where you have certain medical conditions. Good for your muscles and your brain.

What meat could possibly be better?

Mutton (or goat) is highly underrated also think of the uses pork has.

Bacon sandwiches have cured more vegetarianism than any other meat 😂

I'm not going to investigate Creatine, because I'm pretty good as I am, I'm in my late 50's never been to the doctor or dentist. Been to the hospital once over 20 years ago for kidney stones.

I eat well, sleep well, exercise moderately (mostly walking) have no stress or anxiety and live a good life.

As soon as I hit post I knew you would say bacon.

😂

The beef people are about a thousand times more annoying than vegans. I very rarely actually encounter vegans that are militant about it (and I live in a region where they should be plentiful), but the beef people won't stfu about it 😂

I think I'm going to make my burger for dinner a double just to spite you for commenting that on my post. 🤯

You should buy a hummer and dump some oil on your lawn to spite my EV and solar roof, too 😂

The only available new Hummer is an EV 🤣

I'm going to get solar on my roof to spite your attempt to get me to spite your solar, how about that?

I think I just got owned??

My bank account is the one getting owned. Do you know how much solar with extra capacity for mining costs?

No idea, but I'll be willing to pay to way over-provision my home for mining.
