In a recent interview, Tucker Carlson said the NSA hacked into his signal account… is privacy possible on a centralized app?
Discussion
Right. I've heard that there are even several backdoors for govs in it. But baby steps. It's better than WhatsApp at least.
One must consider that Signal does not spread among the masses through the argument of 'security' alone (nobody cares about security and privacy tbh). Rather, it spreads through 'looks and works like WhatsApp, but is safer'.
Which decentralized chat service is usable enough for my family and non-techie friends to use?
Ya fair enough. Eventually something on Nostr maybe?
Saw an interview with Telegram founder, he seems like he is a principled man. But he’s still a single point of failure. Has to be a decentralized protocol.
open source project so whereiare the backdoors? And is Tucker or his brain trustworthy sources?
