Some things can not wait. AI + KYC data already makes any custodial or trandsarent value system (Bitcoin, bank accounts, credit cards) a panopticon.
Next thing that will follow is frozen funds, confiscations and heavy taxation. All thanks to non-fungibility of "modern" payment systems.

these were technologies that were proposed a decade ago when Bitcoin was smaller and easier to change.
strong case to be made that the only reason monero exists at all is because the community decided to not include privacy tools.
