2TB, RockChip, Linux OS and fully open-source. While this might be a really cool smartphone, all I see is the perfect mobile node. I want one.

Who's making apps for Linux Phone? Is it compatible with Android apps, or is a whole new ecosystem required?

yeah, waydroid works fairly well to have some android apps compartimentalized

There's this new app, we call it bitcoin. 🤣

Shut up and take my m💰😂🤘

Zap it. 🤣

Would be cool if graphene os could run on it nostr:nprofile1qqstnr0dfn4w5grepk7t8sc5qp5jqzwnf3lejf7zs6p44xdhfqd9cgspzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt0d5hszrnhwden5te0dehhxtnvdakz7qgawaehxw309ahx7um5wghxy6t5vdhkjmn9wgh8xmmrd9skctcnv0md0

The dream is Linux desktop on the go. Plug into monitor keyboard and mouse got your desktop. Unplug got a nice mobile version. Hope one day someone pulls it off.

Makes me think of Ubuntu Unity. I wish that vision became a reality. A secure, open source OS on a phone that is adaptable to other form factors. That would be amazing!

I am writing this from waydroid on Ubuntu Touch. Ubuntu touch probably is the most fleshed out can plug into monitor with fairphone 4 works decently. PostmarketOs is further behind but I like it more with the mobile gestures and set up way better than Ubuntu Touch. Both not the easiest thing to daily drive unfortunately. We can dream for now.

What is "mostly open source"? 🤔

I'd assume that means there's a hardware unit or two with a proprietary driver. But I would be curious indeed.

Run your own full node and lightning node on there. It’s always on and always internet connected.

With it being Linux you can embed lightning further in the stack and make communications more secure and potentially eliminate spam if you require incoming calls to pay sats before connecting. Setup a whitelist so known contacts don’t have to pay.

Wow, yea, 2 tb storage, that's a node all right. Looks like it'd probably handle running a lightning node on top of it too given all that ram and the 2.4ghz 8 core...

Linux Phones don't work very well right now.

Your best bet is de-Googling a Pixel phone by installing GrapheneOS and hardening it (even though it's stupidly secure by default).
