Two weeks ago to the day, my Dad died, and I cannot help but think about aspects of his life that was completely fiat based.

Many years ago, he had his life insured to look after Mum. Despite being a low income earners who struggled to make ends meet, they always paid the premium year on year.

In the end, the government forced Mum to surrender it to pay for his resthome care before they would fund his care, so in fact, they would have been better off not having the policy.
