Two weeks ago to the day, my Dad died, and I cannot help but think about aspects of his life that was completely fiat based.

Many years ago, he had his life insured to look after Mum. Despite being a low income earners who struggled to make ends meet, they always paid the premium year on year.

In the end, the government forced Mum to surrender it to pay for his resthome care before they would fund his care, so in fact, they would have been better off not having the policy.

Dad was a boomer, but thats his story of fiat slavery

Ouch 😔 I felt that. It’s really sad that the fiat life has screwed up many people & including folks that were “playing by the rules” doing everything that was asked of them. The silver lining is that you are doing things differently & your kids will be better off because of that.

My Dad died on 4 August of progressive supranuclear palsy. Its vey rare and mostly unheard of. His legs gave way one day, and he moved to resthome care for the next three years where his mobility declined slowly. Here is a video which shows what the disease is like.
