20 BTC fee. Oops. Is that a record?

Fiat value record

makes zero sense to me

zero

how

Maybe the miner didnt broadcast the transaction and mined against it for accounting trickery?

aaah

Akshually, sounds like this was in the mempool before block discovery. Sounds like some very bad software. Everyone hates test-driven development until they wished they didn't.

Fees are implicit in the difference between the value of the inputs and the value of the outputs. If you pay out β‚Ώ0.075 from a β‚Ώ19 UTXO and don't include a change output paying most of it back to yourself, that's a transaction miners are *really* going to want to lock in.

ahhhh ok

They bought a stick of gum with a $100 bill and said "keep the change".

love this! thanks

An excellent comparison.

Wooowww !

Ooof

That’s a metric shit ton of oof.

I don't think I'd be able to get over that sort of f-up

Was this transaction floating around before it got mined? Might be an accounting trick for a miner to include it.

In that case the pool wouldn't broadcast the transaction, but only include it in it's own candidate block.

Wow! Assuming this was not intentional for some reason, sincere sympathies for whoever made this mistake. If I were an F2Pool member, I would be willing to give up my piece of that fee if requested. I doubt there's an easy way to do that though. Any idea how it may have happened?

holy shit I'd cry

Poor guy. Ended up with 0.07 BTC. And 19.82 in fees. Probably wanted it the other way round.

Were they using an old QT wallet? I remember this used to happen from time to time and the miner would sometimes send it back to the originator who made the mistake.

In the future, miners will rely solely on transaction fees for their work ⛏️ I think they will be fine πŸ«‚

Custodians send bonds and wires that are sometimessent in error too. I used to do it myself and it always freaked me out how little review there was on it before I would move hundreds of millions of $.

I did send some bonds to the wrong bank one time but luckily we got it back. There’s no guarantee.

Pain

Ouch, that hurtsβ€¦βš‘οΈπŸš½

Could it be bitcoin "laundering" by the miner?

So snitchin

Hahaha, lucky miner.

don't drink and send!
