It would fully support non-stock operating systems (i.e. not the official GrapheneOS builds) too. Essentially, we would be paying to have the privilege of actually being able to securely support the device and build the device support code ourselves with vendor support.

If we sold a lot of devices, we could then use the money from that to fund the next generation device in 2-3 years and/or to extend the support time longer. We could start with 5 years of support and extend it up to 7 if we sold enough or got enough donations.

I just received my Pixel 9a yesterday to make the switch. I'd still happily support a Kickstarter-style pre-order. What's your rough guess on time from commitment to shipping? 12+ months?
