That's neat but how can they operate with 0 persistence? After a reboot they wouldn't know who should have access, right? Doesn't that mean a paid 'account' can only last as long as the servers don't reboot?

The entirety of Mullvad is not operated with 0 persistence. The VPN traffic has temporary persistence in RAM and account & credit is probably stored in a database, either permanently or temporary.

Right, that's what I was wondering about. I guess to minimize the risk of being associated with that account number people should switch accounts fairly often.
