Nostr is nice and all, but why are all Nostr clients just copying Twitter? Can we not get creative ourselves and build something more unique?
It’s like clients are opening Chrome Dev Tools and copying Twitter’s CSS and rebuilding Twitter.

In the short-term I guess it would make it more familiar and easier to switch, but I agree that I'm more excited about what can potentially be.
Potentially we will just copy everything new Twitter launches. What are we doing to build something new?
I guess twitter is so successful because it is built the way it is. Copying it for now makes sense. From there improvement can happen. I already like the lack of character counting which makes it much easier to get more nuanced opinions across. Twitter has also increased but only for the people who pay!
I imagine that will come in time right? Once enough people using the protocol more experimentation will happen.
Onboard to the protocol where its familiar enough for most and then things can really get wacky and new. At least thats the vibe im feeling.
Replicate then innovate
There isnt much wrong with twitter's UI.. it was everything else, liking shadowy overlord algorithms and back door govt control that was the issue.. so imo having much of the same the UI/UX with the added feature of truly uncensorable free speech is great imo..
Plus, we have ZAPS!! 😄😄
and yes, I am sure over time there will be multitudes of new client creations..
What are some things you would like to see?
Lets see
- you can already play chess over nostr messages
- you can do coinjoins over nostr
- you have actual e2e encrypted DMs over nostr
- there are multisig setup protocols over nostr
- there are pastebins
- clipboard sharing across devices (copy in one client, paste in another)
- chat rooms with optional moderation
- no algos to shadowban you or whatever
- ability to tip the author of a note directly, with no intermediary taking a cut
- mobile, web, desktop, CLI clients
- an open API with no throttling or registration needed, free of cost
- and more
None of that is available on Twitter.

decentralized self controlled version of the same instead of the controlling twitter, with integrated payment system and attached shop/trading/pictures/bargaining/gambling etc works fine for me. i guess many twitter users will come over and many non-twitter users from other platforms who do not like being patronized
