I haven't seen an ad on YouTube for about 8 years, apart from a handle of times when someone else was showing me something on their device. On those occasions, I'm shocked that people still don't use a decent browser.
Never complain about YouTube ads.

With the NewPipe app, you need to subscribe to everyone and everything you're interested in. It won't use a Watch History algorithm like YouTube to determine what to suggest in your feed. And that's a good thing, because your viewing is anonymous and unsurveiled.
Don't forget to take notice you can download any video. I do this when I anticipate watching in a no-phone-signal, no WiFi area. Or when I want to guard against the video being suddenly deleted from the platform. I typically delete the video off my phone later after I'm done with it.
Downloading is a paid-for YouTube Premium feature, but it's free on NewPipe. Like the old Showbox app (if you remember that), NewPipe will become your new, most valuable app in your phone's library.
