The reason men and women never play against each other in sports is because they would be destroyed. The difference in strength is hard to comprehend but here’s a video to show you. Notice the guy is just average but he picks her up like it’s nothing. He’s not ripped or gigantic. Also check out this scrimmage of the women’s national soccer team losing to a high school team of 15 year old boys. Maybe if you said that an absurdly tall and skilled wnba player could beat me, I would maybe agree that’s possible because of the height difference. But a small girl like cloud? Increase in viewership doesn’t magically make women athletically similar to men and it doesn’t mean the sport is good. Another false equivalence. Attendance of wnba games was so low that any increase wouldn’t really make a big difference. And again, if the wnba was good content, then it wouldn’t be subsidized by the nba. It's just that most female players won't stand a chance against a tall, talented male player. That's what this debate was initally about, right? Also, there's a reason why the WNBA is essentially just a subsidiary of the NBA: they just don't reel in enough fans.

I've met a few. My daughter is a big sports fan. So, she received some autographs.

since october 2023, roughly, first heard about it in about june 2023 on twitter, and heaps of my follows were endlessly talking about it but i was skeptical at first, because people talk shit about shit

well, nostr is still some crazy thing, not saying it's not, but it wasn't one of those stupid things like bluesky and mastodon are.

best part was that it attracted a lot of based people and i'm pretty based so that was good because literally i had quit facebook 4 years before that and twitter came up in 2021 in part related to me trying to get work writing code for bitcoin stuff.

I'll just wrap up my point, as I have a free moment. It's a plain fact that women generally have physical disadvantages compared to men, but this doesn't automatically mean that the two genders cannot compete against each other in various sports.

Chess even shows that for certain types of sports, separate competitions might even be counterproductive.

Previously in chess, there wasn't such a strong emphasis on separate women's titles like WGM (Woman Grandmaster). The highest title, GM (Grandmaster), was and is open to everyone.

Some argue that the introduction and greater emphasis on separate categories like WGM might have paradoxically had a negative effect on some female players, as it could have reduced the motivation to strive for the absolute highest level in direct competition with men.

A great example is the Swedish Grandmaster Pia Cramling. When she was reaching her peak and earned the GM title (in 1992), it wasn't as common for women to focus primarily on women's titles; WGM, they competed predominantly in open tournaments with men.

Today, this respectable granny Grand Master still plays at a very high level, and it's logical to assume she would defeat womens who have "only" achieved the WGM title, which generally has lower requirements than the full GM title earned in open competition.

Perhaps I overreacted yesterday and was a bit rude, for which I apologize. Peace.

I hope this example will at least be useful in some way.
