Do get the initial coating, I rubbed it with beef tallow and burned it over my charcoal grill outside, for 20 minutes every side. Reapply tallow during the process.

Is tallow + grill better than grapeseed oil + oven for 1.5 hours per coating? 'cause that's what I did initially. 4 ot 5 coatings in the oven, then every time after I cook on it I dry on the stove, apply a thin grapeseed oil coating, and heat on high until it starts smoking.
Still sticky af. Just got done rubbing vigorously with chainmail for a loooong time trying to get the stuck on eggs to go away. SO frustrating ๐ญ
I've never done either honestly. After cleaning it, I put it on the stove with the burner on high to dry it out and I wipe it down with some avocado oil and let it cool on the stove. I always try to scrape any stuck on bits with the metal spatula while the skillet is still hot and wipe it out. It took a long time using this one for the eggs to not require some scrubbing with hot water...like 2-3 years of using this skillet a few times a week to get here ๐.
Oooo! So there's still hope for my skillets and I'm not really doing anything wrong? That's good to know. Thanks!
To me, no. To fanboy purists maybe ๐คทโโ๏ธ. Like I said, I'll use a little soap in mine on occasion with a gentle scrubby (no scratch). My mom always washed ours as a kid, after putting them out in the yard for the dogs to clean out ๐. I think the key is not using an abrasive cleaner, drying, and oiling. Just use 'em!!
Getting a chain mail scrubber was a game changer ๐

I have no experience with oven and grapeseed oil. But i would say a real flame gets the job done much better. I have no sticky eggs behaves like a normal chemtrail coated pan ๐คฃ
