You didn't do anything wrong per se. But by offering a free-to-use relay anybody can abuse it to send countless spam DMs.

If you block the scammer, he could easily create a new account and spam you once more.

But if it costs a bunch of sats everytime the scammer tries to send you a DM, they would maybe move on to other 🤑...

Amethyst allows to block DMs of each relay if you want to. That's what I did here. I only allow DMs from paid relays. Everybody else has to try and contact me via public notes.

Ah makes sense. I might shift to a paid relay model again one day, gotta keep stacking those sats. 😁👍

Actually.. now I think about it, my relay doesn’t support DM note kinds. Only syncs public notes, relay lists and contact lists 😁👍

Ah, okay. Then DM spam is definitely not your problem 😁

I realise that I know far too little about relays.

But the Bitcoin rabbit hole is just too deep and I’m stuck in it too much. 😅

In the end I cannot take everything into account and have to trust an app or software that I’m doing it right.

But Bitcoin thought me not to trust but to verify.

Interesting how that will work out in the future. 🤓
