You didn't do anything wrong per se. But by offering a free-to-use relay anybody can abuse it to send countless spam DMs.

If you block the scammer, he could easily create a new account and spam you once more.

But if it costs a bunch of sats everytime the scammer tries to send you a DM, they would maybe move on to other ๐Ÿค‘...

Amethyst allows to block DMs of each relay if you want to. That's what I did here. I only allow DMs from paid relays. Everybody else has to try and contact me via public notes.

Ah makes sense. I might shift to a paid relay model again one day, gotta keep stacking those sats. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Actually.. now I think about it, my relay doesnโ€™t support DM note kinds. Only syncs public notes, relay lists and contact lists ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Ah, okay. Then DM spam is definitely not your problem ๐Ÿ˜

I realise that I know far too little about relays.

But the Bitcoin rabbit hole is just too deep and Iโ€™m stuck in it too much. ๐Ÿ˜…

In the end I cannot take everything into account and have to trust an app or software that Iโ€™m doing it right.

But Bitcoin thought me not to trust but to verify.
