Super excited to launch https://nokyctranslate.com today - pay bitcoin to do Nostr translations. Tested with damus so far. Feedback / thoughts wanted.

Thanks to #[0] for helping to test it in damus.

HUGE! Congrats. First of its kind on the market. Looking forward to stress testing translations on your service.

Awesome, thank you! Please share any feedback, issues, thoughts 🙏 #[2]

Can I ask how you are accepting Lightning payments and what are you using to track API usage/credits?

🔥🔥🔥

This is huge!

Isnt Libre already free? What am I missing here?

It uses the same LibreTranslate API schema so there’s interoperability but it’s implemented with a different backend. Moreover, LibreTranslate is free only if the hosting service makes it free.

What’s the backend? I’m willing to pay for DeepL because it’s much better than what’s available for free. I’m not sure I see much value in paying for anything less.

Backend is currently AWS Machine Translation. Because it's so expensive to run custom AI models, we're waiting to see how many users are interested, and if it's high enough, going to switch over to running our own AI Models, that are more recent (like NLLB). But those will cost thousands in GPU server costs every month.

Ok, got it! Thank you

This is awesome, I have been wanting add translations to my client but I dont care to host my own LibreTranslate server

Are you anonymous, or can we know who runs it?

Think I worked it out #[3]

Yes for now

#[4] has built it ✌️

Awesome. That's the way. Thank you so much for building the service 🙏

Does this work with the Damus App Store build, or would I need a TestFlight build?

Never mind; it does work with the App Store build, at least mostly.

Thanks - if you have trouble please reach out!

It’s alive 😄

This is great to see.

Do you know which Android #Nostr clients support this?

Noice.
