Have you checked out the new YouTube alternative, Nostr-based video website called Plebs App?

It’s everything we’ve been dreaming about! You can upload videos, and viewers can easily "zap" your videos.

The platform was just released a day ago, and I’ve already uploaded three videos for testing. Guess what? Someone has already zapped one of my videos! Huge thanks to whoever did that — you made my day. 🙏

I’ve always wanted my own video channel, but I can’t stand YouTube with all their ads and censorship but now I finally i have my own space to share content.

So, what should I do next? Should I start a podcast? Or something else? The last time I created a video was many years ago, and I found it to be time-consuming. It wasn’t really my thing, but it did give me a new appreciation for the energy and time content creators invest in their work. Unfortunately many of them get pennies from YouTube and eventually quit.

The developer of plebs app has plans to add a lot more features down the line. Right now, though, you can only upload videos up to 100MB, as it relies on the free Blossom servers. I’m curious how they’ll handle this limitation, especially since most podcasts easily exceed that size. I recorded a test video the other day, and it was a whopping 6.7GB!

YouTube has deep pockets, so they can easily host thousands of videos. But maybe we’ll find a way to host our own content in the future.

Still, Plebs App looks incredibly promising!
