I'm glad you touched on the topic... being able to set your own value is important part of value exchange that feels egotistical to do but it's not. Creation requires consumption in the form of time/energy/materials, which the cost of can vary greatly depending on skill level/talent/locality. The consumer had no concept of that cost & rarely a desire to figure it out. Just having some mechanisim to express an expectation for one's work could help, especially in swaying the spending habits of people who feel morally connected to the cause or content in some way. Suggested donations are almost always obliged at charitable functions for this reason. If someone is overestimating their value, their consumers will tell them one way or another.
Amethyst has per post zapraiser goals, which seem to work well when they are used but I rarely see them in action, aside from Vitor & app updates... and they seem to work well for that. I think if more clients offered something like it or supported the display, it could open up avenues for people to see what the aim is for crowd funding. Visual motivation.
Part of me not seeing them might be that I don't follow many creator types though too 😅
