I think that is true. I'd be in favor of encrypting petnames so they are still sharable between clients.

I was trying this one a few weeks ago. I still think it is a good idea to start a new data type to define the status between two pubkeys (the edge of the graph).

what’s going on? Different people have different names for me throughout life— perhaps this is a matter of place & time.

maybe clients will implement NIP32 for kind 1985 empowering users to label events, pubkeys, etc. Thats the ideal wsy for someone to assign a name
