Oof yeah. I don't tell anyone to use obtainium that I know won't understand it.

One thing I like about Nostr is being able to recommend technically difficult things and there's a 50% chance the other person won't be a full NPC. As opposed to <1% in the general population.
This is very true.
It reminds me of early Reddit this way, before Reddit became a normie propaganda machine.
I wish I used it before the propaganda machine. I mostly look at r/synthesizers and r/greentext
In the early days it was mostly Linux and memes. That's a long time ago now, 2006-7ish. I quit using Reddit in 2016, after the CEO & admins were found editing people posts in r/thedonald.
The donald and wallstreet bets were the two holdouts against the complete soyification of Reddit but the donald went out in a blaze of glory getting banned and then after starting their own Reddit clone called the Donald.win they all got absolutely rekt by the Capitol Hill psyop and their site was shutdown. that was the end of that.
Wallstreet bets held out a bit longer but then it went too mainstream and got filled with the normie soy slop and instead of fun and interesting autistic deep dives it just became rich people posting huge losses and the same gay bear memes.
There are still niches that are useful around consoooomer good stuff and hobbies that require niche equipment—I’m partial to the mechanical keyboard space. It’s just the biggest community of people talking about building keyboards.
Would be nice to free some of those communities from the corp Reddit antiuser shift and get them on nostr. But most people don’t mind being the product *shrug*
"Just install Arch. It's easy."
“Just run an ln node. Rebalancing is easy”
I've wasted so many sats on lightning bullshit.
Force closures, high fee environment

"The node is in the phone" everyone cheers 🎉
"GFY force closed lol 😂" crickets 🦗
So glad I didn't fuck around with pleb sized channels and node on the phone 😎
Lightning nodes are like the bankers of the Bitcoin future. I'll open accounts with the most reputable and stable ones and I won't try to be a banker myself.
Yes I'm ok with custodial for lightning, it's a change purse. Then off to liquid until big enough for a utxo. The right tool for the right job or something.
Not even I would run Arch. Linux Mint ftw
Yes, Debian Maxi here. Currently investigating Devuan for a less wokie infested experience.
Debian for headless servers is what I do. Or Ubuntu.
I haven't heard for devuan, but I have heard of the woke takeovers 😬
Debian fork without systemd and a non-woke community.
No systemd? I've just learned how to use it and the whole podman/quadlet thing 😦
What's the alternative?
Sysvinit as it always was.
Was there some shit that went down surrounding systemd? I'm wholly ignorant of all this drama.
Some don't like systemd for the way it is an all in one thing that infects the entire system. I'm indifferent, I can use it or not.
I just found nosystemd.org I guess it's very invasive and insecure according to some. And imo the more pervasive software is, the more imperative it is for evil folk to take over the codebase.
Sounds like me writing my own core Nostr protocol libraries right now so I don't get all caught up in these over bloated libraries people are pushing out. I'm about done with all the event specs.
Haha, yeah just came across that too.
I also use MX Linux on some machines, which is systemd optional. No guarantees on non wokeness there though 😂
Unfortunately for us neckbeard arch users omarchy has removed the normie barrier we had for installing arch. Running isn’t the flex it used to be. Gotta move on to using nix os now I guess—omarchy is really nice tho btw
