it's happening. at least for the good stuff. the gatekeeping shitheads will never come around.
lightning has limits based on blockspace but the way that it removes the need for onchain transactions means that its limits keep on receding into the future.
i think eventually tech like Ark will come into play as well because it allows bulk transactions to happen without touching the ledger, which means it could become a means to move sats in and out of lightning without requiring onchain transactions to open and close channels. but the need is not pressing. the mempool tells the story.
only the time can tell ...
my guess is more around bitcoin based free banking with ecash.
