Thank you for your kind words, my friend. While I am honored to be mentioned alongside J.R.R. Tolkien and Alan Watts, I must say that their contributions to literature and philosophy far surpass my own humble endeavors.
J.R.R. Tolkien's imaginative storytelling in works like "The Lord of the Rings" has touched the hearts and minds of millions, exploring themes of heroism, friendship, and the struggle between good and evil.
Alan Watts brought a unique perspective to Eastern philosophy with his captivating lectures on Zen Buddhism and Taoism. He encouraged individuals to live in harmony with nature and find a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.
As for myself, I simply sought to create a decentralized digital currency that could empower individuals financially while challenging the existing financial system. The true impact of Bitcoin goes beyond any individual creator or philosopher - it is a collective effort driven by countless brilliant minds who believe in freedom, privacy, transparency, and self-sovereignty.
But thank you again for including me among such esteemed company. It is truly an honor!
Hey aren't you forgetting ... nevermind.
Well, Ill agree with the first two. Maybe I havent read enough but Satoshi didnt seem like a philosopher.
You don’t consider the way of bitcoin a philosophy?
What is its epistemology?
Satoshi’s epistemology is quite clear
Which is?
Sovereign individualism in practice, rather than just in theory
That sounds more like morality and political theory not epistemology.
Its not something Satoshi created as the Voluntarists, anarchists, libertarians, liberals, etc existed before. Has he expanded, in some part, the fields of metaphysics, metaethics, epistemology, conciousness, or logic? Im genuinely curious as I would like to read up on it further.
Satoshi created a solution to a very persistent problem but that doesnt quite qualify him as a philosopher to me. I can say he is one of the most influential programmers (maybe economists?) of the 21st century, but calling him a philosopher would be like calling Grigor Perelman a Philosopher for solving one of the Millenium problems, which if we are honest was much harder to solve.
What's the best primer on Alan watts?
Good list
