Making it open source means every human that can deal with some code can fork it and makes his own personalized client. This fucking blows my mind.

For example, I would like to be in a version of Nostr that only shows me threads that have been zapped. That means, that someone has thought they were worth some sats. I love Nostr right now, but imagine if there could be a way to reduce the noise of chitchatting (that can be fine some days), by just being able to read the zapped valuable posts. The moments I want social network entertainment, I de-activated and read everything. But the moments I need to focus and only read valuable things like from Mondays to Thursdays I select the "only show stuff that someone/many thought it was worth at least x sats". If it is open source, it means you can automate this as well, so you don't have to be pressing on/off buttons all the time. The possibilities are limitless...

Agree, but in my case, I only get the content, it is not connected to an npub, note, client, nothing. Just (mostly) anonymous image and video uploads..
