Price controls never work. You need to be incredibly stupid, ignorant, or evil to propose price controls. Price controls lead to shortages that work their way through the entire supply chain.

Price gouging doesn’t exist. If you don’t like what someone is charging, buy it somewhere else. If you don’t like what anyone is charging, start your own business and compete with them. And if governmental bureaucracy and regulation prevent you from doing so, blame governmental bureaucracy and regulation, not the businesses.
Food and groceries are literally the most competitive, least profitable industries in the economy.
If you don’t want to pay any company’s prices, you can compete directly against them with some seed, water and soil, or a rifle or fishing pole. Of course not everyone has those, but enough people do. The barrier to entry is laughably small.
Energy: now there’s some barrier to entry, and profit!
Ultimate barrier to entry (ergo profit and waste): taxing authority. Let’s price control the fuck out of that!
