Replying to Avatar rabble

I’m not thrilled about the new changes to the bluesky terms of service:

This is happening because bluesky is actually still a centralized service with a single set of cryptographic keys for signing of everything, a single server that hosts content, and a single organization creating the technology.

Not all of this is bad. Honestly, I fear this protocol is just an Ukrainian POW getting his head chopped off going viral on it to become unpalatable for most people.

The Wild West of decentralized, impossible-to-stop censorship is an invitation for illegal activity and bad actors. I watched the Daniel Pearl video at the time social media was still young and we didn’t know any better, and I think a kid or a sensitive person shouldn’t be exposed to that, at least not with ease.
