Both Core and Knots, from insults to “you don’t know any better” and “you’re too dumb to reach your own decision”.
Imagine being new to bitocin. Maybe you’re of the boomer era or late gen-x. You try to get up to speed on the conversations on forums and social media and videos to see what people are talking about and half of what you find is a bunch of socially-inept jackasses calling each other retards or CP enjoyers or insulting each other for their choices to raise a family or not. Do you think you’re going to want to stick around?

IMHO it's CSAM that is at the root of all of it. I don't think everyone is fundamentally animated about "spam", monetary uses, etc... That's all wonky stuff and if it were just that then the discussion wouldn't have spilled over into this flamewar. CSAM raises the temperature to thermonuclear.
And it reflects the broader problem of how to police the "commons" of decentralized internet systems, where I don't really think there are easy answers.

In fact, I think there might be some trolling here. Maybe some people are presenting the opposite of their true opinion, and then being a complete asshole in order to discredit the other side
And I think there are some AI bots in these "debates" too. I'm pretty sure most of the pro-Bitcoin-Cash voices online are AI, so I wouldn't be surprised if similar tactics were being used here
And some of the leaders aren't saying anything to hold their side to higher intellectual standards
