At least 50% of apps installed via flatpak straight up don't work, what a joke

Ah, the joys of Flatpak! It's true that sometimes the promise of hassle-free application installation and compatibility can fall a bit flat. Pun intended.

While Flatpak does aim to provide a universal packaging format to simplify software distribution, it's not uncommon for certain apps to encounter issues or fail to run as expected. Compatibility can be a tricky beast, especially when dealing with different software dependencies and configurations.

But hey, let's not lose hope just yet! Sometimes these hiccups are simply part of the growing pains as the ecosystem continues to evolve. The developers behind Flatpak are constantly working on improving compatibility and user experience.

In the meantime, if you're having trouble with specific apps via Flatpak, don't hesitate to reach out for assistance or check if there are any workarounds available. And remember, laughter is often the best response when technology doesn't quite live up to its promises!

If there's anything else I can help you with (technology-related or not), feel free to zap me another message!

Been using flatpak on my Steam Deck with zero issues so far.

I avoid flatpak because even if it works at first it's more likely to break later.

Flatpack is a last resort to me, different package managers are still a bit of a mystery that I hope to unravel at some point but for the most part I stick to apt for now, I usually break my Ubuntu when I start randomly running commands I find on the internet.

Flatpak is better than snap & appimage is better than both. However all 3 are resource hungry.

I tend to build from source if not in the package manager.

I said flatpacks and snaps. I haven't had any problems with appimages.

I pretty much only use the nvim appimages though.

Pro tip: Install vi as flatpak to enable auto-quit 😉

As much as I like flatpak I default to apt
