Is anyone building or thinking about nostr-to-email cross functional clients? Think substack - publish to nostr and to an email list.

How do we reply to emails we get on nostr? (using amethyst)
Yes! 🐶🐾🫡 me!
What features are you after? 🐶🐾🫡

Incrementally all is doable, but some part maybe hard! 🐶🐾🫡
Let me know where I can help. You should build in public too!
Once I get underlying things figured out I will. It’s not the easy one, and done part time as well. So far I have only email to DM with attachments. Next I want to be able to email to public post with attachments. And also need to figure out web login with nip-98 and nip-07 … 🐶🐾🫡
I thought the goal was to get rid of email?
I don’t see why. The world still runs on email and it’s a great way to own your audience and notify them of new content.
Simply publishing to nostr won’t be sufficient at maximizing the chances of people reading it.
Why not notify them through a dm? If the world is full of nostr micro apps, the reach would be sufficient?
It would solve the algorithm problem. With following 600 people or more I only see what someone has posted in the last hour. People I don’t follow just if I happen to be online
Exactly. I think the long form use case could use email integration.
I would love to have dm integration with habla news. For example, if I could select to follow and subscribe to a writer and they publish something in habla I would get a dm.
The “subscribe” portion of the follow could be in the client like Damus etc, and then when someone posts a note on habla it broadcasts that to all of their “subscribers”. No need for any email integration.
Well, my NIP 05 is also a working email address
🤔
How do we interact with people who already have an email address they get everything else at for years and would probably just want to keep it that way?
Personally I don’t think everything should be on nostr. The email portion could be something as dumb as grabbing your post from your writing UI and importing it into a legacy email service.
Have gmail.com support NIP 05 😂
Simple forwarding would work, but would expose the destination email and confuse senders. Bi-directional forwarding (with a reply-to that points to the proxy) would work, but would potentially mess up users' contact lists. Email is just kind of gross this way, there's no way to pick up your identity and move.
The reverse could also work; emails sent to someone's NIP-05 could go to DMs and vice versa. Or someone could build an email client that supports that flow, but then that's just another email service.
Developing a thing now but not sure what. Are you saying you would pay for such a service? Just curious how much per month?
No I’m thinking of ways to integrate with legacy ways of doing things while exposing people to the nostr wider network and slowly orange pilling them while giving them options to build an audience and monetize it.
Not to say that I would not be a user - I would. I already have a mailing list on substack id love to port over here
