I think the collaborative custody model is a pretty big deal and a phenomenal product, because they don’t actually custody or have access to you bitcoin. Only in the event you fuck up they act as redundancy.

Agreed, and don’t underestimate the importance of quality reporting it provides too, it’s been invaluable to be at audit time for my pension.

collaborative custody in that iteration is custodial. if you f up you could become dependent on a company cooperating to recover BTC. I understand the impulse for people to use this, but creating your own multisig is not really that difficult, and eliminates all privacy tradeoffs. Inheritance is a harder problem….
