Right now there is an insane opportunity for brands to adopt Bitcoin through Nostr.
Few will take advantage.

Yes.
Were you able to load this just fine?
Thinking I made it too long
True—early adopters always capture the most value. Nostr + Bitcoin is a rocket ready to launch 🚀
Seems like i may have posted too long of a video for NOSTR.
Will use less words next time
You need to compress your video. This is 1.25GB

I post full movies that are 1/3 that size.
This absolutely destroys mobile users 😭
I'm on a pixel and retarded
How do I do that?
I already messed with some settings to make it smaller, but obvs didn't go far enough
Use this, and drop the resolution to 1280x720 max. It will bring it down to 10s of MB.

users should not have to think about this. its just us client devs and media hosts who are dropping the ball.
transcoding is expensive. media hosts are not getting funded while projects of no real value get dumped huge sums and large social media platforms have deep pockets
I think its doable on the client with the latest iphones with an ABR ladder of 2 rungs (540p/720p). latest iphones have good hardware HEVC encoders apparently.
I should look at android hardware and see what is available there as well..
probably way more variable support. also HEVC is not supported by many clients and is worse in terms of patent-trolling
AV1 is great but the hardware encoders bascially only newly existing and the decoders as well, so it's either a battery sink or no compat
so I guess I'm stuck with h264 hls for now
I am willing to pick up the ball, but I hear you. If you want people to post whatever they want they shouldnt have to think about it
Yes and no. How many times have we heard users scream “why does my video look like garbage when I post it?!”
I don’t think there’s a perfect solution but I like the idea of giving users an option along with a li’l education. Something like a toggle that switches between “higher quality / slower for users” and “regular quality / faster for users”? 🤔
Also wen BYO blossom server in Damus? It would be much more convenient than having to manually upload to my Nostrcheck server (shoutout nostr:npub138s5hey76qrnm2pmv7p8nnffhfddsm8sqzm285dyc0wy4f8a6qkqtzx624) and copy-paste a link every time I want to post media 🙏🙏
Doesn’t primal compress the files for you with their caching relay?
I doubt they are transcoding videos on the fly... although that would be cool. even if they cache it, the videos could still be too large.
Would that be something damus will do at some point in the future? Would save my battery life a lot

Thanks for the video. A lot of value there. This is a massive oportunity for growth and freedom for individuals and new bussineses
Thanks for watching!
Dude YES. I have thought the same thing about the bitcoin+nostr synergy for months now.
Legacy social seems to want to harness as many eyeballs as possible, but there's very little focus on the quality or intentionality behind those views. Nostr is an entirely different animal.
Early adoption benefits to Bitcoin are obvious. With nostr it's less so, but if it continues there will be benefits; for individuals and brands.
I think it is too early on nostr adoption to think about it in anything less than a 5 year plan (maybe thats too bearish), but that 5 year plan has MASSIVE upside.
I just mean that nostr probably wont change your life (like bitcoin) for a little while, but the risk reward is insane
Agreed, but I'm curious to see what the second order effects of NGU will do to nostr. That could accelerate to adoption process along with other use cases being added on a monthly basis.
