De-googling is so hard. I can remove all apps but the one I cannot touch is Google translate. It’s been an absolute life saver for me, but it tracks everything and knows everything about you 😭

What to do?!

Tell it lies

🤣🤣🤣 nice

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I prefer using that within a disposable VM running QubesOS…

Second best is to use it without logging in from a browser like Brave, or on a device with a Gmail account that has NO info about me.

Sometimes I abuse our dogs Gmail address, but right now the usb-c port for charging that laptop broke off… Maybe I‘lol donate an old phone to him haha

Use it daily on my main driver phone.

Try running it in a privacy on the same phone? Better than not doing anything I think?

I tried QubesOS for three months and loved many aspects, but it made me too slow.

Different use cases for sure, for me it has been totally perfect for running a huge amount of social media and related accounts within the Digital Gulags!

Going back to anything less now is very unlikely, but if forced I would still follow the same philosophy of setting up good habits of compartmentalizing identifies and so on…

I have sort of replicated that on an old MacBook, but it is not the same and handles a very limited set of identities.

Reverso dictionary and translator.

do you mean the app?

just use it in browser, no?

never used the app

Learn new languages? 🙃

Isn't there a DeepL app you could use...?

There are so many good translate apps. I recommend DeepL. I’m not sure who you are compromising with in regards to data, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t Google.

Deepl have a phone app with camera scan?

Yes, and more

It has image to text translate, scan text to translate, voice to text translate, and text to text translate.

Thanks will check it out

Oh boy … the scan feature is a PITA 😭

#asknostr ?

Delete it and hire me as your personal translator

It's something I have to use regularly.

Yep. Use it multiple times daily.

Yep. 😮‍💨

Open ai has whisper or something they open source translation

Deep L?

Just tried and it kinda sucks at scanning. Can’t see myself using it on the go.

Aah fair.

Use that a fair amount on my phone (pixel 6 graphine). the number that I currently have used to be a chinese students number (or so im guessing) and i get random texts like this all the time :

I tried scanning a page and it keeps picking out one sentence. Unless there are some settings to tweak, I’ll look…

Need it to be practical and fast.

That’s just so wholesome oh my gosh 😭

yeah it's really hard to be upset about a random text when it's that wholesome

I use GrapheneOS, and I don't even have the sandboxed Google Play, but I still use Google Translate :/

You can try using ChatGPT as a translator😉

Need scan function and I don’t want to wait for a slow typed response 😂

Same here.

Tried Yandex's translate feature?

Google Minimalism.

Simple cut out all of the excess Google apps. If you need to keep a few, that's fine.

I use different profiles, they know me, but just some parts 😅

Remember when they actually used to break up monopolies? Ma Bell remembers..

Use it through a browser?

DeepL is what you are looking for.
