It's painfully obvious that Russell Brand is getting the Julian Assange treatment. Just like Assange, Brand was safe for years, until his actions (or in this case, words) started affecting The Party.
And then, voila, magic rape allegations, and instantaneous coordination between media and state to squelch the issue.

I live somewhere similar, and can say I've met both.
Like any group, you'll have the passive ones (technically religious but not practicing), the ones that practice but still hold some contradictory views to the religion, and the fundamentalists.
This is something I've noticed about a lot of the "smart" people, like in tech, where I work.
Most of them are book smart and highly specialized in one area of expertise. But "book" is where their smarts end. The rest of their existence is one big exercise in the Appeal to Authority logical fallacy.
I had the advantage of growing up in some interesting/sketchy circumstances which required "street" smarts. Like for example, knowing when you're in danger, or when you're being swindled, taken advantage of, or manipulated... and this sense is totally missing from most of the people I work with. It's so surreal.

Not sure where you are, but usually in Canada you can show up to the courthouse to contest it (since the cameras don't actually show *you* driving the car) and the police don't even bother showing up and it gets thrown out.
I usually use: tar -xzvf -C
where x means extract... can't remember the rest of the args. hit tar --help to see a list of options
That won't isntall anything though, just extract it. You'll probably need to check the readme to figure out how to install
